day'n days

I was a hair model at Salon Joseph up the hill from our house and was asked to come back for another up-do. It was fun. The weather has been beautiful and we have been getting out and walking more. Yesterday I made a Coconut-Lime Bundt Cake from Veganomicon with Gluten Free Flour. It turned out beautifully and was moist and delicious! I have never made a Bundt Cake before and have a hard time baking sometimes, because I try to do it too quickly. This time I took my time and it paid off! We had a wonderful time at NAS and also saw Ironman, which was very entertaining. I started doing yoga more, which feels great and makes my job easier. We continue to explore the city together, walking around Queen Anne is quite a workout. We have begun looking at Real Estate, partially for fun, but also to get an idea for the the future.

This weekend Topher had Saturday and Memorial Day off, so we got to hang out more than usual. The grill is being put to use and the porch garden has benefited from all the recent sunshine. Our plants look great and we now have fresh Mint, Sage, Purple Sage, Thyme, Rosemary, French Lavender, Bay Leaves, Chives and Oregano available. Soon we will have Aunt Molly's Ground Cherries, Eggplant and Carrots too. (If anyone in the Seattle area would like Sage, Ground Cherries or Chives, let us know we have extras that are already started.) I planted some Catnip outside for all the outdoor cats in the area and someone has already been chomping it up!

heat wave

This quilt is beautiful! Denyse Schmidt also sells fabric scraps on her website. If I made quilts, that seems like a cool way to get started. The packs of quilt fabric I have seen have all been, well ugly.

Right now there is a bird fight outside our picture window. A Crow, a Robin and the always present and cocky Steller Jay are going at it. All of the birds are pretty large in size and the tree branches can barely hold them up.

And last but not least, if we could get a dog....

tidbits

Our tomatoes are growing up beautifully. I transplanted one into a bigger pot this afternoon, but we are running out of pots and rocks for all the young sprouts we have. Thursday and Friday are going to be very warm, so at least one can spread out a little bit. The plant that Topher's sister Becky gave us came back to life. I have been paying a lot of attention to it and it finally bloomed. My log cabin blanket is also coming along, an exciting project for mw to knit, as most of the projects I have made for us have been smaller items. This is the big one! We have been enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine. Here we are on the porch last weekend, Topher is working late, or else I might not get away with posting this one. Cheers!

past few

1. Watched more basketball, but not all the games, because we are tired.
2. Saw In The Heat of The Night on the big screen and now we know the origin of the quote "They call me Mr. Tibbs". (Very good movie!)
3. Found the best sushi restaurant yet! See photos! Marinepolis!
4. Walked around Green Lake tonight, enjoying the warmer weather we've been having.
5. Dentist and hair appointments for Heather.
6. Students have relaxed and that makes things easier and harder at the same time.
7. Our plants are doing very well and that is very exciting, alas still no P Patch.

hummmm

Luven Me

I wasn't really sure we would see a lot of hummingbirds near our house besides Topher's sighting. He had to take down the feeder, because the nectar was old. As I sit at the dining room table on a foggy, drizzling Saturday morning hummingbirds continue to emerge from the large Cedar Tree in front of our window. So small and quick, you really have to be sitting in one place long enough just staring. I had just woke up and was waiting for my new Nelly CD to rip onto the computer. I got to sleep in this morning, which felt wonderful, it has been awhile since I got enough sleep. Last night we went to a different sports bar, we are still trying to find a good one, to watch 2 games. The Cavaliers and the Jazz are going to the second round and the Hawks and Celtics are tied and playing game 7 tomorrow. The Hawks Celtics game was close and exciting to watch...

Today I am making some necklaces and relaxing before I head down to the shelter this afternoon. Then we are planning a trip to Goodwill for plant furniture(they are currently taking over the porch) and jewelry. I am still fighting some sort of sickness that has been lingering around. I thought I had everything possible, until this popped up....Peace out
