the incomplete list of absolutely everything that happened since the last blog

Hi everybody, it's me Topher, I told H. that I would write a blog (for once) and thats what I'm doing. I'm lazy though, so I'm not gonna write complete sentences, I'm just gonna list off stuff that happened since January 22nd (with pictures.)

1. I worked too much cause my co-worker went on vacation.
2. I burned myself three times in three days.
3. It was really nice outside. We went to Le Pichet and Wasabi Bistro and the sculpture park.

4. Sarah Martin came to town!

5. We drank beer and wine and walked around.
6. I worked some more.
7. We went to Archie McPhee and la Carta de Oaxaca.

8. Enchiladas!

9.We watched the Seattle Supersonics very nearly beat the Sacramento Kings. It was an awesome game with awesome seats. (I highly recommend the tall scalper guy by the bus stop.)

10. I got 2 days off!
11. We bought some new CDs ( I got Black Mountain, H. got Vampire Weekend.)
12. We bought some excellent comic books.
13.We ate sandwiches in Georgetown.
14. We sat on the couch and watched movies and read comic books.
15. We went to Uwajimaya and H. bought me weird asian beers and my favorite cheese karls.

okay, theres a bunch of other excellent adventures that happened too (more sushi, more Goodwill shoppin') , but I'm lazy, and I have to go back to work tomorrow, and I wanna eat some pumpkin pie.

Talk to you later.

the beginning...

monday morning was my last dog walking shift. all the dogs had been walked, so we got to hang out with these 10 week old cuties! and then i visited with a old cocker spaniel, who was also adorable. i'll still have matchmaking shifts on the weekends.

i am looking forward to working soon, but a la MDE, the paperwork is still not completed for the new subs. so now we wait...for everyone who wants to ask me about work: no, i have not started working yet, i will soon and that's that.

i am determined in the meantime to knit through my stash, as i hope to be stash-less always. my sinus infection seems to be finally gone, with thanks to red wine and raw fish last night, i think. my friend sarah is coming to stay with us tomorrow for a few days. very exciting...have a good week.

The new year

Substitute teaching starts next week. The cafe is busy due to a positive review and tasty picture in a local magazine. We are settling in, nesting, if you like. No resolutions, only a promise to myself to be healthy and stop supporting corporations. Winter here has been beautiful and mild. And now it's yoga time, buenos noches.

Topher is amazing...

" (Boat Street Kitchen Brunch) Was there this morning. The scramble with red pepper and goat cheese was probably the most perfect scramble to which I've ever been a party, and came with a wonderfully warm, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside hunk of baguette and simple, tasty fruit. The cornmeal custard cake was also killer, and came with a very nice, spicy link o' sausage.

I enjoyed my meal all the more for a service anomaly: the entire waitstaff was 30-40 minutes late, and the chef selflessly extended himself to the first wave of diners, graciously and efficiently taking orders, serving food, figuring out the coffee machine, etc.

Although I urge the servers to invest in better alarm clocks, BSK definitely endeared itself to me today."

in lieu of e-mail

Dear friends,

I have been struggling with an impacted sinus infection and finally decided to take care of it, as the ringing in my ears was starting to drive me nuts. My goal this week was to apply to be a Substitute Teacher in a few districts and the good news is that the Seattle area is low on subs! My thought process went something like this: sub and find a school I like, get to know Washington's rules and regulations, what the vendor products look like, and find the perfect position next school year. It has been a tad difficult to think straight while my head is in such distress.

I have been taking breaks to knit frantically, reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed, watching Perry Mason and trying to finish the other books that I am reading so that I can start on some of the new ones we got for Christmas. I returned to the shelter on Monday and spent an hour with Cali, the adorable gray pit puppy and then got to hang out with Orlando who is the most graceful dog I have ever seen. The dwarf hamster we were thinking of fostering has been adopted, which is good news...but there is always straight up adoption!? In case we decide to do this, meet Gerhardt, so cute! (We are still discussing this.)

Back to work!
